Polycaprolactam is a polymer that simulates the characteristics of nylon 6,6 without affecting its production patent. It is also referred to as Nylon 6. The structural formula of polycaprolactam is (C6H11NO) n.
Due to its distinctive qualities, such as high tensile strength, incredible resistance to abrasion, increased flexibility, and high lustre, it is employed in engineering plastics and packaging. It is a semicrystalline polyamide.
Polycaprolactam is produced via a polymerisation process in which caprolactam is used as a monomer that undergoes a hydrolytic mechanism; hence Nylon 6 is formed.
The leading exporters in the market of polycaprolactam are the United States, Germany, Italy, China, and the Netherlands.
Key Details About the Polycaprolactam Price Trend:
Procurement Resource does an in-depth analysis of the price trend to bring forth the monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly information on the polycaprolactam price, tallow price and lithium carbonate price etc. in its latest pricing dashboard. The detailed assessment deeply explores the facts about the product, price change over the weeks, months, and years, key players, industrial uses, and drivers propelling the market and price trends.
Each price record is linked to an easy-to-use graphing device dated back to 2014, which offers a series of functionalities; customization of price currencies and units and downloading of price information as excel files that can be used offline.
The polycaprolactam price trend, pricing database, and analysis can prove valuable for procurement managers, directors, and decision-makers to build up their strongly backed-up strategic insights to attain progress and profitability in the business.
Industrial Uses Impacting Polycaprolactam Price Trend:
Since Polycaprolactam is hydrolysed by its ester linkages under physiological conditions, it has drawn considerable attention for usage as an implantable biomaterial.
It is a crucial component of dentistry's dental splints and root canal fillings. It functions similarly to gutta-percha and has identical handling characteristics.
Polycaprolactam also finds its application in Carpets, Tire cords, Apparel, Hosiery and upholstery, Seat belts, Parachutes, Ropes, and industrial cables. Besides that, it is also employed in Extrusion, injection and blow moulding, Engineering materials, and Moulded parts.
Due to its excellent elastic properties, polycaprolactam is utilised to fabricate biodegradable 3D-printed scaffolds and promotes various applications in the healthcare industry.

News and Events:
• July 20, 2022: The first demonstration-scale manufacturing runs for plant-based nylon-6 were successfully completed by sustainability leader Genomatica (Geno) and longtime partner Aquafil. The material aims to transform the USD 22 billion nylon market, enabling manufacturers to satisfy consumer demand for eco-friendly everyday products including clothing, vehicle parts, and carpets. Geno and Aquafil have created the first several tonnes of plant-based caprolactam, the building block of nylon-6 converted it to nylon-6 polymer, and are currently transforming it for testing in nylon applications, such as yarns for textile and carpet and engineering plastics, as part of pre-commercial quantities from demonstration production taking place in Europe.
